Remember Krishna without Deviation - Part 2

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

We are continuing with the transcription of the lecture given by our spiritual master H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on the BG Verse 8.14:

ananya-cetāḥ satataṁ yo māṁ smarati nityaśaḥ
tasyāhaṁ su-labhaḥ pārtha nitya-yuktasya yoginaḥ

For one who always remembers Me without deviation, I am easy to obtain, O son of Prtha, because of his constant engagement in devotional service.

Ravana was a staunch Shiv Bhakta, but he was finished by Sri Ram. If he had been attached and strongly devoted to Sri Ram then he would have never been killed. He didn't have unflinching faith on Sri Ram which lead to his destruction. We are not to deviate from our path of worshipping Krishna. We may come to temple sometimes and attend programs and go home. But as soon as you leave temple, you get entangled in illusory energy and forget Krishna totally. Unless we stop this foolishness, we cannot follow this verse. Its not easy to follow this verse. It looks very easy to take the beads and chant Mahamantra. But no. Its not easy. Consistency is not easy but we have to remain fixed. If we are fixed as told by Krishna "yo maam smarati nityasah" then and then only we can attain Krishna.

Why can't we follow Bhakti yoga when it is so nicely explained ? There are 4 vedas Yajurveda, Samaveda, Rgveda and Atharva Veda written by Srila Vyasdev. Then he thought that, "these rascals are loosing their memory, so let me combine all of them and write Mahabharata." Even then we could not follow Bhakti Yoga. Then he wrote so many Puranas, so many Upanishads and even then we were stone. Then in the end he had Vedanta Sutra, even then we were confused of what to do. Then he compiled Srimad Bhagavatam. Bhagavatam also has 18000 verses so we didn't read it saying, "We will read it in next life or in old age or so." Even the 700 verses of Bhagavad-Gita, we are not able to follow it or read it. We don't have time to read these 700 verses also. So he gave only one verse:

ananya-cetāḥ satataṁ yo māṁ smarati nityaśaḥ
tasyāhaṁ su-labhaḥ pārtha nitya-yuktasya yoginaḥ

But still we are not ready to follow it. We are just playing around. We are so proud of anything and everything we have. Illusory energy is so powerful. If we are not transcendental, then miseries are to attack us. When we stop thinking about Krishna, miseries come upon us. If we are not attracted to the controller of these 5 elements earth, water, fire, air and ether then each element becomes our enemy. If we don't eat more than required, if we don't earn more than required, then we live a peaceful life. This is the way to attain Krishna. When Sri Rama returned from forest and was to accept throne, he called everybody and wanted to gift them. Then he asked Lakshman what he wanted. Lakshman said, "I don't want anything, I want your association." This is the transcendental gift anyone can ask for. Urmila also did not ask for anything. Bharat said, "I want to be attracted to your Lotus feet." This is what these devotees asked. Mandavi said that, "In Your absence, we were very much even in all the odds of life. Please give us capacity that in future also we have the capability to tolerate all ups and downs in life. We do not pose any problem to the people with whom we are staying." This was benediction asked by Bharat's wife. Shatrughna said "I want to serve Bharat as Bharat is attached to you." This is also transcendental gift - Dasaanudas.

Srila Prabhupadasays -"A pure devotee cannot forget the Supreme Lord for a moment, and similarly the Supreme Lord cannot forget His pure devotee for a moment. This is the great blessing of the Krishna conscious process of chanting the Mahamantra

Hare Krishna Hare Krishna Krishna Krishna Hare Hare
Hare Rama Hare Rama Rama Rama Hare Hare

So please chant and remember Krishna always."

I pray to the lotus feet of Gurudev to give me strength to follow the above to the fullest of my capability and engage myself in continuous remembrance of Krishna. Even if I eat, sleep, walk, talk, or be it any activity, I pray that I remember Lord Krishna sincerely with love and meditate upon His lotus feet for the rest of my life.

Thank you very much.
Yours in Service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudev,
