Srila Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj Vyasa Puja 2013 - Part 11

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the glorification of our beloved spiritual master HH Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on the blessed occasion of his Vyasa Puja celebrations in Chennai on Dec 17 2013.

HG Rangaram Prabhuji said that the following instructions of Maharaj had inspired him a lot.

1. This material world is full of miseries. But you please always tolerate and be humble in all your endeavours.

2. Maharaj said, "I left home when I was eating in silver plate." Maharaj also by his practice shown what is real renunciation. He used to say that we should leave the house when people are asking,"why are you leaving?" Otherwise day will come when people will ask, "when are you leaving?"

3. Srimad Bhagavatam keeps your soul healthy. Apart from studying Srimad Bhagavatam, it is more important to practise Bhagavatam in our life as well.

4. Maharaj always insisted on the importance of transcendental vibrations and the need for reciting shlokas. He also added that we should not simply repeat the shlokas like parrots but we must meditate on the purport as well.

On this auspicious occasion of Maharaj's Vyasa puja I would like to offer the below shloka. This is one of Maharaj's favourite shloka and I am sure Maharaj will be very pleased to hear this. This is a prayer by Sukadev Goswami.

SB 2.4.20
śriyaḥ patir yajña-patiḥ prajā-patir
dhiyāṁ patir loka-patir dharā-patiḥ
patir gatiś cāndhaka-vṛṣṇi-sātvatāṁ
prasīdatāṁ me bhagavān satāṁ patiḥ

May Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa, who is the worshipable Lord of all devotees, the protector and glory of all the kings like Andhaka and Vṛṣṇi of the Yadu dynasty, the husband of all goddesses of fortune, the director of all sacrifices and therefore the leader of all living entities, the controller of all intelligence, the proprietor of all planets, spiritual and material, and the supreme incarnation on the earth (the supreme all in all), be merciful upon me.

In the purport to above verse, Srila Prabhupada very nicely mentions the following - "The Lord is therefore the guide of all devotees, and as such, Sukadev Goswami offered Him due respects with love-laden feelings." So let us also recite Bhagavatam with love-laden feelings. Maharaj, I pray to you to please bless us so that we practice Bhagavatam and preach the nectarean message to all.

HG Rangaram Prabhuji is disciple of HH Jayapataka Swami Maharaj. He and his entire family are very much devoted to Bhagavatam and are actively engaged in serving Srila Prabhupada's mission in Chennai. Krishna willing we shall continue to hear the other glorifications done by devotees in the subsequent offerings.

Thank you very much.
Yours in service of Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva,
Sudarshana devi dasi.
