Determination to Serve

Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

Davinder Prabhuji is a wonderful and sweet devotee from Singapore  - and a key member of our youth group known as Bhaktavatsala. He posts very nice verses from Srimad Bhagavatam on our Singapore youth website - and this verse he chose last week is a personal favourite of mine too. In life, it is so easy to get distracted from our worship of Krishna by the constant detractors in the form of family, friends, society etc. These distractions often make us disturbed simply because we allow them to, and because deep inside we still seek recognition, fame and adoration from them and society. Once we learn to discard them, then we will concentrate better on the lotus feet of Krishna -that is known as determination to serve the Lord at any cost. Thank you Davinder Prabhuji!! The verse in found in the purport to 2.4.3-4 of Srimad Bhagavatam.

Message from Davinder Prabhuji: "Prabhujis this is a very beautiful verse it is a prayer by Śrīla Mādhavendra Purī  in which it says let everyone say anything but I shall never leave the service of the Supreme Lord.

mugdhaṁ māṁ nigadantu nīti-nipuṇā bhrāntaṁ muhur vaidikāḥ
mandaṁ bāndhava-sañcayā jaḍa-dhiyaṁ muktādarāḥ sodarāḥ
unmattaṁ dhanino viveka-caturāḥ kāmam mahā-dāmbhikam
moktuṁ na kṣāmate manāg api mano govinda-pāda-spṛhām

Let the sharp moralist accuse me of being illusioned; I do not mind. Experts in Vedic activities may slander me as being misled, friends and relatives may call me frustrated, my brothers may call me a fool, the wealthy mammonites may point me out as mad, and the learned philosophers may assert that I am much too proud; still my mind does not budge an inch from the determination to serve the lotus feet of Govinda, though I be unable to do it.

Your servant,

Your servant,
Devakinandan das

P.S: I will be returning to Rajkot and taking darshan of Gurudev for the weekend. I hope to hear and relish your writings soon!
