This is the concluding part of transcription of the nectarean class given by our beloved spiritual master H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on Srimad Bhagavatam verse 4.24.66 on 2nd October 2004 in Govardhan Kunj, London. In the previous offering we heard from Maharaj that
1. Cinta or worry element can be removed from all our activities, if we dove-tail them in Krishna's service.
The following is an humble effort to transcribe the nectarean class given by our beloved spiritual master H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj on Srimad Bhagavatam verse 4.24.66 on 2nd October 2004 in Govardhan Kunj, London.
Once there lived three fishes in a lake. One fish was lazy, another was intelligent and third one was wise and active by nature. So one day when the wise fish was happily playing around in the water, it overheard fishermen talking to one another.
There is a famous proverb that laziness is the workshop of devil. In Bhagavad Gita verse 18.39 Lord Krishna says,
yad agre caanubandhe ca / sukham mohanam aatmanah
nidraalasya pramaadottham / tat taamasam udaahrtam
The word sarvatra means 'in all space and time' and sarvadaa means 'in all circumstances'. There should not be any voluntary breaks in our service. For example, sun always rises in the east every morning without fail.
Yesterday was the auspicious day of Akshaya tritiya and Parasurama Jayanti. 'Kshaya' means dimunition and 'Akshaya' means that which does not undergo dimunition and which will always grow. People have the wrong understanding that if gold/silver is purchased on this day, then their wealth will increase and not reduce.
This is the concluding part of the previous offering titled, "Familiarity Breeds Contempt" wherein we saw some of the below relationships in which intimacyand too much familiarity creates disturbance.
1. Familiarity with our Spiritual master
2. Familiarity with the Deity of the Lord and the Holy Name of the Lord
In our previous offering on this topic we saw some of the beautiful transcendental qualities of Prahlad Maharaj by which he always attracts the Supreme Lord Narasimhadev.
In the verse SB 7.8.7 we saw that Prahlad Maharaj categorically rejected the mindset of Hiranyakashipu that he was the owner and controller of all the worlds.
Recently there were few severe cold storms in Europe and other western countries. Immediately scientists are speculating that this is due to changes in solar system. Few years ago, the same scientists concluded that sun is becoming hot, glaciers are melting due to global warming and lots of suggestions and money invested to control global warming. But now they have changed their opinion.
The appearance day of Lord Narasimhadev is fast approaching and it is very purifying to medidate on the most unique transcendental pastimes of the Supreme Lord Narasimhadev and His pure devotee Prahlad Maharaj as much as possible.
In the previous offerings we were discussing about the various types of miseries which will afflict us during old-age and were learning practical lessons from H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj as to how we could tackle these miseries. Some of the key things which Maharaj had shown us are as follows.
1. To be satisfied at all times.
2. Intense Bhakti at all times.
In the previous offerings we were discussing on the miseries of old age, when we are not attached to Krishna. We are all fast approaching old age, though we feel that old age is for others and not for us and that we will always remain young.
We have seen in the previous offerings how Puranjana who represents all of us conditioned souls, suffered from old age and yet he is unwilling to leave his body. Then we heard from H H Mahavishnu Goswmai Maharaj as to how when we grow old, we are affected by bodily sufferings and we become attached to money and have a sense of insecurity, if we are not attached to Krishna. Now let us continue to hear more nectar from Maharaj.
We have seen in the previous offering on the subject, how Puranjana who represents all of us conditioned souls, suffered from old age and yet he is unwilling to leave his body. Now let us see what our Maharaj, has said about old age and its accompanying miseries.
This is in continuation of the transcription based on the wonderful class given by HG Vaijayantimala Mataji. In the previous mails we saw 24 qualities of a simple person. Let us continue with the other qualities of a simple person.
Since the blind man did not seek for a correct person to guide, he had to face so many difficulties. Similarly if we don't get guidance from pure devotees of the Lord, then we will also face so many tribulations and will be kicked by material energy in all directions.
Recently the concept of 'Devotee Care' is becoming widely popular in the Krishna consciousness movement. The idea of this system is to take personal care of the devotees and that the culture of service, love and care permeates all our activities
In the previous offering we saw how Vidura, an incarnation of Yamaraj, although was cursed to be born in a shudra family, did not consider it as an adversity, but took it as an opportunity to preach the glories of Supreme Lord, in whatever capacity possible and whenever possible. Now let us continue to learn other lessons from Vidura in the above verse.
Yesterday was the auspicious day of Sri Rama Navami, the appearance day of Lord Rama. Lord Rama's incarnation is famous for His accessibility and all compassionate nature. He was friendly and amicable to all inspite of His position as the Supreme Personality of Godhead and the King of Ayodhya in His incarnation.
In our interactions with other living entities, many a times we also make this mistake of judging people based on certain pre-conceptions about them, based on some past incidents etc, or based on what others complain to us about that person.
