Maharaj said, it is very easy to start the devotional service and it is very easy to end it. It is a very easy for a devotee who is interested in Krishna consciousness to come. Many people come, but many people go. In between, to maintain the devotional service is the greatest challenge.

In the last line of the above verse, 'naarayanaayeti samarpayet tat', meaning, 'This is for the pleasure of Lord Narayana', Kavi is telling us the mood with which we should offer everything to Krishna.

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura has concluded, "In all dharmas other than bhagavata-dharma one must consider the conditioned soul's qualification. But a soul surrendered to the Lord is never confounded by error, even if unqualified in all other respects. His feet never stumble, and he never falls.

    Hare Krishna Prabhujis and Matajis,
Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada and Srila Gurudeva.

This is in continuation of the series, "Bhagavata Dharma" wherein we are learning few lessons from the conversation between Maharaja Nimi and the Nava Yogendras as described in the 11th Canto, 2nd Chapter of Srimad Bhagavatam. In the previous offerings we saw Maharaja Nimi inquired the Nava Yogendras

Question 1. What is the supreme good and how to engage in devotional service to the Lord?

And because a pure devotee accepts everything in the sense of serving the Lord, the poisonous teeth of accumulation of wealth are extracted. If a snake has its poison removed and bites a man, there is no fatal effect. Similarly, wealth accumulated in the cause of the Lord has no poisonous teeth, and the effect is not fatal. A pure devotee is never entangled in material worldly affairs even though he may remain in the world like an ordinary man."

Similarly, if we try to serve Krishna with all our opulences, we, as parts and parcels or reflections of Krishna, will become happy in exchange. Krishna is always happy, for He is atmarama, fully satisfied with His own opulence."

If you want to develop gopi-bhaav, then 24 hrs a day, all the time, you have to get engrossed in the scriptures and the temple activities and then only there will be spontaneous love.

"You please read this Srimad Bhagavatam and this is the best medicine for you." And then after three months we visited him again and then he was really much better than what he was earlier. So this is the effect of these scriptures, but we don't have faith. As soon as we have faith in the words of Srila Prabhupada and Krishna, then nothing else will stop you.

"Those who are without any desire for personal gratification, whose minds are always attached to Me, who are peaceful, without false ego and merciful to all living entities, and whose consciousness is never affected by opportunities for sense gratification such persons enjoy in Me a happiness that cannot be known or achieved by those lacking such detachment from the material world."

As soon as you leave the shelter of Srila Prabhupada, you are completely open to all this trouble. It is only Srila Prabhupada who gives us direct and simple instruction about religious and organised life. As soon as you leave his books, his instructions or the institution also, if you don't follow him very sincerely, then you are victimised by so many unknown forces outside. This is a great danger we are facing. Our movement is so large and now if we don't stick to the instructions of Srila Prabhupada very clearly for our own good, then we are completely lost.

As soon as you cross over this limit of bodily identification, then you are out of the modes of material nature. Then the difficulties may appear before you, but they don't have any stinging effect on your life and this is the main thing you have to understand here.

Whose mind does not turn round, with a kingdom abundantly rich in all coveted enjoyments, teeming with elephants horses and chariots and which is inherited from one's father? Having been associated with the kingdom for long, if the illustrious Bharata is longing for it himself, let Bharata rule the entire kingdom in one piece.

Consistency is goodness; goodness is Vishnu: Granthraj is good for printing and for distribution to devotees. So many subjects are there. Whatever work we are doing, keep firm with it, because consistency is goodness. Creation and destruction is passion and ignorance, but to maintain, in other words, consistency is Vishnu.

As it is, with our imperfect senses, we cannot see Him. But we can very well experience Him. If we want to associate with Krishna, then this is the way to be with Him. You just try to chant few verses from Bhagavad Gita, then you are directly associating with Krishna.

Maharaj says that if we want to be sincere in devotional service, in our dealings with others and in our sadhana, then it is very important for us to remember this mantra, "We have to go." Many a times we feel very complacent and lazy, as we think that we will continue to live like this forever and the people around us will also stay with us forever. And as a result, we keep postponing our duties and sadhana.

Once Maharaja Nimi, a great soul and dear devotee of the Lord was performing sacrifice under the guidance of elevated sadhus, in Ajanabha (the older name of Bharata-varsha). When the Navayogendras went to the place of sacrifice, all the sages present there, the brahmanas and even the sacrificial fires stood up and offered their respects to them.

"The nine Yogendras are liberated souls who travel freely to the planets of the demigods, the perfected mystics, the Saadhyas, the heavenly musicians, the Yakshas, the human beings, and the minor demigods such as the Kinnaras and the serpents. No mundane force can check their free movement, and exactly as they wish they can travel as well to the worlds of the sages, the angels, the ghostly followers of Lord Shiva, the Vidyadharas, the brahmanas and the cows."

Since there is a great need of an edition of the Gita in English, as it is received by the parampara (disciplic succession) system, an attempt is made herewith to fulfill this great want. Bhagavad-Gita—accepted as it is—is a great boon to humanity; but if it is accepted as a treatise of philosophical speculations, it is simply a waste of time. "

When we keep meditating on the bad happenings in the material world, we also tend to become bad and by thinking about good, we become good. For this reason, ever since Vedic times pregnant women are advised to refrain from hearing about such mundane topics. Instead they are encouraged to read Bhagavad Gita, Bhagavatam, Ramayan etc.

Whole of our existence depends upon Krishna and this is our source of maintenance. Who can fix the bones in the body? We have so many factories. Is there any factory where the bones are fixed for the child? The child has to be born with the bones already fixed and then again see the miracle.

Do not give into bad association at all, if you want to be happy. People may tell anything. We are quite alright. We may be few. Doesn't matter. Why should you want 1000? 25 is alright. This is our faith.

This illusory energy is My potency, and actually both of us—you and I—are pure spiritual identities. Now just try to understand this. I am trying to explain our factual position."

This process of taking shelter of Guru, does not end with the day of our initiation, nor does it end with the physical absence of Guru. The relationship between Guru and disciple is eternal. So as our beloved spiritual master H H Mahavishnu Goswami Maharaj says, "Every day we should initiate ourselves".
