in order to equip ourselves for preaching we have to study very hard atleast two hours a day. You should completely forget your house, completely forget your activities, completely forget that you are very important person in your house.
The foundation must be Vedic, otherwise your activities are completely null and void, whatever you do. You may amass wealth, you may collect so many material possession. To acquire material possession and to be happy, it's altogether a different thing, completely different thing.
Any small seva you do for Krishna and you will be happy. klesho bhuri, bhuri means very big large. klesh means mental anguish. You do any activity without remembering Krishna, that is klesh - mental anguish.
We are heir-apparent of the most important culture. And in Kali yuga, Caitanya Mahaprabhu has simplified the devotional service and He has given us the instruction that you please just chant His names in sankirtan
This nama sankirtan, sarva papa pranaasanam, all our sinful reactions are completely eradicated by naam sankirtan. Your group should come together like this and without any material attachment we just chant Krishna’s names. In any situation this medicine must work.
Kṛṣṇa has appeared in the Hare Kṛṣṇa mahā-mantra. The Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is spreading like wildfire all over the world, and it will go on doing so. Men who are like Kaṁsa are very much afraid of the movement’s progress and acceptance by the younger generation, but as Kṛṣṇa could not be killed by Kaṁsa, this movement cannot be checked by men of Kaṁsa’s class. The movement will go on increasing more and more, provided the leaders of the movement remain firmly Kṛṣṇa conscious by following the regulative principles and the primary activities of chanting the Hare Kṛṣṇa mantra regularly.
Unless one is initiated by the right person, who always carries within his heart the Supreme Personality of Godhead, one cannot acquire the power to carry the Supreme Godhead within the core of one’s own heart.
If anyone visits a holy place, he must search out the pure devotees residing in such holy places, take lessons from them, try to apply such instructions in practical life and thus gradually prepare oneself for the ultimate salvation, going back to Godhead. To go to some holy place of pilgrimage does not mean only to take a bath in the Ganges or Yamunā or to visit the temples situated in those places.
If one is empowered by the Supreme Personality of Godhead to do something, the core of his heart becomes a dhāma, and thus he becomes so extraordinarily powerful that not only his enemies but also people in general are astonished to observe his activities. Because he is unapproachable, his enemies are simply struck with wonder.
We may or may not get the ornaments which we aspire for, as we need to have good karma to enjoy rich ornaments. Even if we get them, we cannot enjoy them for ever, since we need to leave everything at the time of death.
Śrīla Viśvanātha Cakravartī Ṭhākura recommends that we become humble by practicing the following meditation: "In fact, all living entities constitute the Kaustubha gem on My Lord’s chest. Therefore I should never envy or deride any living entity.”
One person said his name is John and meaning is “Graced by God”. Prabhupada said “You are really graced by God as you have taken to Krishna consciousness”. And one devotee said his name is Jacob and it means thief. Prabhupada said ”Krishna is butter thief and He steals away all our sinful tendencies”.
One should meditate on Lord Narayana who always resides in the orb of the sun. He is to be meditated as standing on the lotus flower, wearing beautiful armlets, shark shaped earrings, a crown and a necklace. He has transcendental effulgent form and He bears a conch shell and sudarshana disc.
The first thing Kṛṣṇa is looking for is how eager you are to see Him. Kṛṣṇa will respond. If you are actually eager to see Kṛṣṇa – whether you are lusty, or you want to steal His ornaments, or some way or other you have become attracted to Kṛṣṇa – then it is sure your efforts will be successful
When one’s love for the Supreme Personality of Godhead in devotional service is fully developed, one always sees the Lord, even without artificially meditating on His form. His vision is divine because he has no other engagement. At this stage of spiritual realization it is not necessary to engage the mind artificially.
Alwar easily created a more beautiful shawl with gems and stones and the person became embarrassed. He then removed his necklace and gave it to Alwar and Alwar removed his tulasi beads in the neck and showed him and it became a diamond necklace.
When monarchy was present, the kings used to wear a crown which is considered a representation of their authority over the kingdom. Usually the crown (kirīṭa) will be of high value and made of gold. In the case of the Lord, He being the Supreme Lord of all material and spiritual worlds, He is decorated with crown which is invaluable.
All the Vedic scriptures recommend meditation on and remembering the Lord’s form and it is prescribed in the scriptures as a means for purification of consciousness and attainment of the spiritual world.
The spiritual aspirants are advised to stay away from gold, diamond and jewellery of all sorts, since attraction to them could be a stumbling block on the path of spiritual progress. Those who are in family life and cannot stay away are advised to have minimum involvement as much as needed.
By chanting some way or other we become little courage, courageous. And however hard you are dejected, you just chant - jai sri kṛṣṇa caitanya prabhu nityananda sri advaita gadhadhara srivasadi gaura bhakta vrinda (Gurudev laughs) Everything is gone. How nice it is!
We should never think that I am alone. Outside, why should we try? Never do it, never give in to this weakness. Prabhupada was alone. There was nobody that time. He didn't know anybody. And at least now you have Prabhupada's paraphernalia. His intelligence is there in his books. So please try hard and somehow or the other we will.
Unless you are satisfied in your own, own circumstances, that’s it. Your thirst for having more and more will never be satisfied. We should only see that, "at the moment, I am going. That's enough. Kṛṣṇa will provide then. That's it."
