You cannot take to this business all of a sudden, even it is advised. You have to practice. Just like you cannot become a good soldier on the battlefield. You have to be trained yourself before going to the battle. Military training. So this Kṛṣṇa consciousness movement is training before you ultimately meet death
Not that because we are chanting, nobody is taking care, we shall not be disappointed. Our this saṅkīrtana movement is so nice that simply by chanting, the vibration will create an auspicious atmosphere, varīyān eṣa te praśnaḥ
Every day, as much as possible, read Śrīmad-Bhāgavatam, Bhagavad-gītā. Nityam. Then our heart will be cleansed, and we shall know what is our constitutional position, what is our relationship with Kṛṣṇa, and then if we serve in that relationship, our life is perfect.
This room is now called sanctuary, because you are talking about Kṛṣṇa, and you can make it a drinking club also. The room is the same, but when the business is different it is called sanctuary, and when the business is different it is called a brothel.
As soon as we go out of the scope of this Kṛṣṇa consciousness, there will be so many talks. And that will mislead you. That is māyā. And if you stick to the Kṛṣṇa consciousness, there is no secrecy, there is no duplicity, there is no diplomacy.
So to remain as gṛhastha, as householder, is not condemned, but it should be Kṛṣṇa conscious. There are four āśramas. There is nothing condemned, because the aim is Kṛṣṇa. If the aim is Kṛṣṇa, then your life, your interest is all right. If the aim is not Kṛṣṇa, then you're losing the opportunity of this human form of life
This is karmī's view. They want some profit to enjoy personally; therefore if they think that "I am going to die next moment," then their karmī activities will be stopped. Therefore Cāṇakya Paṇḍita says that "You think that you shall live forever," although it is false, just to give him impetus. But those who are transcendentalist, those who are after going back to home, back to Godhead, they should be serious, and they should know that "I am going to die at any moment.
The distinction between family life and spiritual life can be experienced by any person who has undergone the tribulations of living with a family. One who comes under the shelter of the lotus feet of the Lord never becomes attracted by the activities of family life.
In the case of Gajendra's pastime also we see that elephant Gajendra, although very powerful on land could not manifest its full strength when he had to fight with crocodile in the water for 1000s of years. Whereas the crocodile being a water animal could emerge very powerful.
If one's friend or Godbrother or brother increases in devotion, the other devotee, he is not envious. He simply thanks him, "Oh, my brother," "my sister," or "my father," like that, "he has advanced in so much devotion. I could not do. So how I can follow him?
Whenever and wherever possible - whether it is with his classmates, teachers or his own demoniac father, he tried his best to give Krishna to all and that goal of life is to do devotional service unto Him.
Devotee at the time of death is not disturbed because we know that īśāvāsyam idam sarvaṁ, that's it. (Gurudev laughs) So we leave and go. We are peaceful. Materialistic man cannot be peaceful, cannot be peaceful.
Gross nuclear energy is so very powerful. So what to talk of the subtle nuclear energy. This Brahmastra is mantra, by mantra, by sound vibration it explodes. This is subtle. And subtle things always they are excited by sound.
yukta-vairāgya is alright, if he uses it for Kṛṣṇa. But there is a fine line between our sense gratification and Kṛṣṇa’s service. Suppose I have car. And I think I am using for Kṛṣṇa. That is the way, yukta-vairāgya.
In transcendence only, we can be at ease. Without the transcendence, we cannot do this. This is the point. And we are always missing the transcendence. And we are going to the material thing. And material thing are changing and getting destroyed, changing and getting destroyed. So more disturbances is there.
