Vacant mind, idle mind is a devil’s workshop, idle. It doesn’t have any engagement of the Transcendence, so, it is a source of destruction.

Now, suppose you go to sell some book, and if somebody says, "You have read this book? Can you explain this verse?" then what you will say? You will say, "No. It is for you. It is not for me. I have to take money from you, that's all." Is that very nice answer?"

Encourage all the living entities to be good, and in the end, everybody will be like good. If you say to the person that you are very good, he has to be good anyway. And again tell him that he is very good, “yes” he will say, “really, I am very good. I must be good”. So, whatever little defects he has here and there, will go away. Otherwise if you discourage the people, they will behave that way.

One is considered to be a failure in life as long as he makes no inquiry about his real identity.

And really, those who are sane, they should think this that in the end everything is to be renounced. So, better we form the renunciation habit. Please don’t hesitate and try to understand in the right perspective. Don’t doubt. Don’t doubt Bhagavatam. As soon as you doubt Bhagavatam, you are vinaśyati, saṁśayātmā vinaśyati

As long as one is engaged in activities aimed at improving the standard of bodily comfort, one is sure to transmigrate to different types of bodies, thereby continuing material bondage perpetually.

Cooperate means you also operate, I also operate. That is cooperate. Cooperate is not that I am dominator, and he is the dominated, that is not cooperation. Cooperate – both of them operate. He is also independent, part and parcel of Krishna, I am also independent, part and parcel of Krishna. I have no right to let him down, or he doesn’t have any right to let me down.

We have to always enjoy the service, because He is non-different from service. You do any service here, and He is nondifferent. So, we must be very patient to experience Him. And the reward is that you are completely peaceful. If you are patient, then you are peaceful.

When we follow karma yoga, when we are following renunciation, we should not let down anybody. Otherwise unknowingly, we hate the living entities. Please try to be very careful.

Half a spoon full of sugar they can bring and put to the ants. And slowly that renouncing habit will increase. Because renunciation is our natural position. We have to die anyway. So, whatever we hoard is going to be pinched by somebody else. We cannot take anything out of it.

The habit of renouncing should be cultivated. As I told you, even one spoon of sugar you put to ants - that is the habit of renunciation. Sugar doesn’t matter, but renunciation is there. And that renouncing attitude will allow you to float in this ocean of misery of the material existence. Miseries will not touch you.

sannyās means to stop enjoying the fruits of our karma, that is sannyās. We wrongly think that stopping karma is the meaning of sannyās. It is not like that. Never we stop the karma. But we forsake the fruits, that is sannyās.

Maharaj never uttered a word of complaint, regarding his situation and his voice never revealed his pains, as he was vibrating the verses with great love and with unlimited compassion for all the living entities and with great urgency making sure that all who came there carried in their hearts Srimad Bhagavatam verse 1.5.40

In order to control the mind, one thing is very necessary, and that is the kṛta-jñaṁ according to Bhagavatam. We should be very grateful to the living entities who had helped us or who are helping us. Please, try to be grateful always. As soon as you cultivate this quality, you will become very humble.

Devotional service should be based on the foreground of the knowledge. This is knowledge. Our house, beautiful houses we have, because there is a foreground. And if the house has a foreground, nice garden is there, and the house looks beautiful. Why, because the foreground is beautiful.

if you want to harm anybody, it is very easy. But to encourage the living entity, it is very difficult. That was what Prabhupada taught us and Bhagavatam says that. Please, those sages, the sadhus, they find out one good quality from the person and magnify the good, bahulī-kariṣṇavo, they magnify the good quality. And the demons, they find out the bad quality – a little of it and magnify the bad quality. So, we don’t want to be demons.

Once it so happened that there was a strike in the hospital and the caretaker was complaining saying “What is this? Nobody dies” he said. “I have nothing to do here” (laughter). If the hospital is going on, daily there is a queue. So, he said “I wonder whether this hospital cures or causes to die

Our whole Vedic culture depends upon the austerities. The more we try to perform the austerities, the more Krishna’s mercy will be near you. All our endeavors must be blessed by Him. That is the root cause. And to obtain His blessings, we have to try very hard really. Unless He is merciful, He will not call us to His association.

Unless they smear upon their bodies the dust of the lotus feet of a Vaiṣṇava completely freed from material contamination, persons very much inclined toward materialistic life cannot be attached to the lotus feet of the Lord, who is glorified for His uncommon activities.

The dust of the feet of a devotee, the water that has washed the feet of a devotee, and the remnants of food left by a devotee are three very powerful substances. By rendering service to these three, one attains the supreme goal of ecstatic love for Kṛṣṇa. In all the revealed scriptures this is loudly declared again and again.

Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswathy Thakura made him realise that the urgent need of the hour is to preach Lord Caitanya's teachings to all - even to the English-speaking people and one need not wait for India's independence to start this global mission. Bhaktisiddhanta Saraswathi Thakura had told him, “If you ever get money, print books.”
